BODHRAN

All bodhran's are of the highest quality and are made by CJ Dixon.

Available diameters currently offered are 16 & 18 inches.  Coming soon ... any diameter!

Rim depths currently offered are anywhere from 4 to 8 inches.  Coming soon ... any depth up to 20"!

Rims are made of solid laminated wood... absolutely no ply used.

Wood species available are Red Oak and Maple.

Rims are available with or without an arm access cutout.

Rims are available with or without a cross brace.

The skin (head) used is a medium density goatskin which produces a wonderful tone.

A leather band with solid brass upholstery nails covers the raw edge of the skin and adds a very nice cosmetic touch.

Each bodhran comes with a tipper which can be custom made to your specific preference at no additional cost.

The tipper is made with your choice of the following wood species: Cocobolo, Rosewood, African Blackwood or Maple.  Tippers can be made to any length up to 9 inches and are available in lightweight (small head), standard (medium head) or heavy (large head) styles.

Each bodhran is tunable and is easily adjusted using the solid brass tuning mechanisms.  This setup allows for very quick and easy tuning which is very necessary especially when playing gigs. 

All metal components used in the drums are either solid brass or stainless steel.  This not only looks attractive but is very robust and will elliminate corrosion for the life of the drum.

CJ Dixon repairs all makes of drums... this includes head (skin) replacement.

1.  Traditional Celtic Hand Engraved Brass Plaque ...  Brass engraving plaques are now available for the outside of the bodhran rims.  Engraving is done by hand, by a Master Engraver using old fashion traditional methods.  Engraving styles are shown below but custom engraving of family crests are also available.

2.  Engraved Brass Shield Family Crest - Family crests available on a brass shield and assembled to the rim.  Very beautiful and personal touch.  Engraving is done by hand, by a Master Engraver using old fashion traditional methods.
